Land Rover Discovery 4 Door Lock Problem

Ocassonally my passenger side rear door acts as if the childlock is engaged but won t even open from the outside either.

Land rover customer care are uninterested and. Start from the bottom. He replaced the setup which comes as a kit was around 600 fitted. I took it yo my mechanic who new what it was without looking at it.

I also have a disco 4 purchased secondhand on december 22nd car went to restricted performance on december 25th into the dealer on the 28th returned on the 7th jan then the car has come up with the same fault on 29th jan and as of today 11th feb is still there both times turbocharger problems. I ve had my 2016 land rover discovery 4 for 18 months now and unfortunately believe the purchase was floored and i should have stuck by replacing my 22 year old 80 series toyota land cruiser with a 200 series. Remove the 2 torx screws that hold the dust cover on top and bottom i could lift up the cover and see that the nylon bush that holds. I found that by removing the rear door trim 4 big philips head screws at the lh lower base of the trim then pull out the bottom and sides and lift up at the top to remove gave access to the door lock mech.

The door card is now loose and can be pulled gently from the door. Be careful removing the door card as there is wiring and the door lock cable attached to the door card. While i liked the idea of a british marque the decision was my mistake as i didn t do enough research. I had this exact problem a while back.

Last time it did it i gently hit the door skin in the area of the lock mechanism from the outside of the vehicle with the flat of my hand and it opened and has continued to work normally so far.
